As Cherrywood’s medical director, Dr. Deitch stays abreast of the latest trends in geriatric care, and patients also benefit from his 19 years of clinical experience. His degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and a Doctor of Osteopathy from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, where he is also an Associate Clinical Professor. Dr. Deitch completed his internship in family practice at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills. He is certified in family practice and geriatric medicine from the American Osteopathic Association and is also certified from the American Board of Utilization Review and Quality Assurance. Dr. Deitch participates in the family practice residency training program at Botsford General Hospital. His memberships include The American Osteopathic Association, The Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and The American College of Family Practitioners. His well-rounded professional training and keen interest in continued learning help him assess each patient’s needs and assist in the creation of an appropriate medical plan.

Cherrywood’s rehabilitation therapy is conducted under the direction of Dr. Justin Riutta. Dr. Riutta earned his medical degree from Wayne State University and completed his residency at William Beaumont Hospital where he specialized in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He completed his fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Dr. Riutta is affiliated with Troy Beaumont, Royal Oak Beaumont and LMT Rehabilitation Associates. Through ongoing education and extensive clinical practice as a physiatrist, Dr. Riutta brings the latest and most effective methodologies to the Cherrywood rehabilitation team. He has been named by HOUR Magazine as a “Top Doc.”
Miriam Unsworth RN, BSN, Director of Nursing

In her role as Cherrywood’s director of nursing, Miriam is diligent in her efforts to ensure that each patient’s individualized plan of care is implemented for the highest level of quality care. She oversees clinical assessments, interventions and the outcomes of all nursing care. Miriam maintains this high standard by emphasizing a nurturing and supportive team approach. In an industry where turnover rates can be high, Miriam brings continuity and stability to the Cherrywood team. She has been with Cherrywood as a staff nurse since 1994, and has served as its nursing director since 2002. During her tenure, she has worked with countless patients and their families in a variety of roles but has always focused on their individual rights and well being. Under her direction, the Cherrywood nursing staff takes a proactive approach to providing quality care and comfort for all patients and their families.
Adeel Khan, Rehabilitation Director

Adeel earned a Doctorate in physical therapy from Wayne State University in 2008. Adeel has helped to rehabilitate patients in the in-patient hospital and outpatient hospital settings with two well-known hospital systems, Beaumont and Oakwood. Adeel has experience in rehabilitation in the skilled nursing facility setting as well as in home care.

Scott brings a unique perspective and focus to his role as Cherrywood’s administrator. The results of this focus are clear in the compassionate, caring attitude of his team. Drawing on more than 19 years of experience in this industry, Scott has a well-rounded background that lets him understand the diverse needs and viewpoints of patients, families and staff members. With more than 12 years as an administrator in long-term care, Scott’s dedication and leadership are always on display at Cherrywood. He challenges his team to create an environment where residents and patients can feel at home and an engaged staff that treats everyone with respect and dignity. Since taking the helm of Cherrywood in 2008, Scott has presided over a perfect annual survey and continues to focus his daily efforts on making Cherrywood a model facility of consistent quality care and customer service.
