Dr. Jeffrey Deitch, D.O., Medical Director

• Certification in Family Practice and Geriatric Medicine from the American Osteopathic Association


As Cherrywood’s Medical Director, Dr. Jeffrey Deitch stays abreast of the latest trends in geriatric care, and patients also benefit from his 19 years of clinical experience. His degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and a Doctor of Osteopathy from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, where he is also an Associate Clinical Professor.

Dr. Deitch completed his internship in Family Practice at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills. He is certified in Family Practice and Geriatric Medicine from the American Osteopathic Association and is also certified from the American Board of Utilization Review and Quality Assurance. Dr. Deitch participates in the Family Practice residency training program at Botsford General Hospital. His memberships include The American Osteopathic Association, The Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and The American College of Family Practitioners. His well-rounded professional training and keen interest in continued learning help him assess each patient’s needs and assist in the creation of an appropriate medical plan.

Miriam Unsworth, Nursing Director

In her role as Cherrywood’s Director of Nursing, Miriam Unsworth is diligent in her efforts to ensure that each patient’s individualized care plan is implemented. She oversees clinical assessments, intervention and the outcome of all nursing care, and she does it by emphasizing a nurturing and supportive team approach.

In an industry where turnover rates can be high, Ms. Unsworth brings continuity and stability to the Cherrywood team. She has been with Cherrywood as a Staff Nurse since 1994, and has served as its Nursing Director since 2002. During her tenure, she has worked with countless patients and their families in a variety of roles but has always focuses on their individual rights and well being. Under her direction, the Cherrywood nursing staff takes a pro-active approach to providing comfort for all residents.


Anna de Luna, Rehabilitation Manager

Anna de Luna heads a team of highly skilled and seasoned rehabilitation professionals. Cherrywood patients benefit directly from the experience this team brings to the table. Collectively, the rehab team offers 65 years of experience in Physical Therapy and 57 years in Occupational Therapy. Cherrywood therapists are well versed in the fields of geriatric and orthopedic rehabilitation. The team also includes a Speech Therapist who is experienced in the care of geriatric swallow and speech impairments.

Like other managers on the Cherrywood team, Ms. De Luna brings a wide range of experience that serves her well in her position. She has more than 19 years of clinical experience in the field of Physical Therapy and takes particular interest in the rehabilitation of orthopedic surgeries, CVA and lower extremity amputation. In January 2000, she joined MHRS (Michigan Health and Rehabilitation Services) as a contingent Physical Therapist and later became a full-time MHRS Physical Therapist. In January of 2008, she joined the MHRS management team. Ms. De Luna and her team take pride in their holistic approach to rehabilitation and are dedicated to speeding your recovery while at Cherrywood.
